Advocate Profiles
Terry Bay President, Casper Office
Teresa “Terry” Bay was raised in southern California and grew up with a vivid love for music. She obtained her B.A. in Music at California State University at Los Angeles. She later went on to acquire an M.B.A. in international business from the University of Wyoming.
Beginning in 1992, Terry spent 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry and was a District Sales Manager with Glaxo Smith Kline, a global pharmaceutical organization. During this time, she developed comprehensive knowledge about the healthcare industry and specific knowledge related to formulary coverage issues and patient assistance programs. She also grew to appreciate the value and importance of forging solid patient relationships with healthcare providers to improve the quality of medical care.
When MEDICARE Prescription Drug Part D was initiated in late 2005, Terry spent more than a year researching this benefit and developing the skills and knowledge base needed to maneuver through the process. She then began volunteering her time in an effort to help seniors and those with disabilities simplify and understand their options. Working in partnership with the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP), senior centers, healthcare providers, retail pharmacies, home health organizations and many other entities who serve seniors, she shared her knowledge with clients to help them navigate and utilize the MEDICARE prescription drug benefit.
Terry’s passion and enthusiasm for the care and advocacy needs of seniors grew from firsthand experience. She left the pharmaceutical industry and a steady income to care for her own parents. In 2001, her father suffered a major stroke and survived independently with considerable physical disability until he transitioned to a nursing home early last year. Her mother died in 2005, after a long struggle with emphysema and COPD.
SENIORx Patient Advocates exist today as a tribute to Terry’s parents and to ALL who support and advocate for patients and families during their time of need.
